Grammar:
In this blog entry two words were used (and bolded) that have opposite meanings: hostile and amicable. Hostile means unfriendly whereas amicable has the opposite meaning, it is used to describe someone who is warm, kind, and friendly. In grammar, these words are called antonyms.
An antonym is a word that has the opposite meaning of another. They are opposites!
For example:

- Full is an antonym of empty

Your dog is so cute! I think using your pets in anything that your students will see is a good idea because, generally, kids like animals, especially if they have a similar animal, and it captures their attention right away.
ReplyDeleteHeads up on question #2 in your grammar point, though. I don't see an antonym for "short" in the answer choices.
I like that you use the same definitions in your vocabulary list and the activity because the repetition is very helpful in reinforcing the information for students.
I loved the vocabulary exercise that you did for this blog post. It makes students think and unscramble the letters rather than just looking at the vocabulary words and definitions. Great job.
